Ages Untold
Terms of Use
Effective 30 September 2026 · Updated 28 October 2026 · Applies to Ages Untold: Chronicles of Lives on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Android
In one sentence
Ages Untold: Chronicles of Lives is a historical reference app. By downloading or using it, you accept these terms. If you do not agree with any part, please do not use the app.
1. Licence
- We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control.
- You may use the material and images in the app for your own reading, study, writing, or teaching.
- Please do not decompile or obfuscate the app; scrape the app or content-delivery addresses with automated scripts; repackage, mirror, or use the figure data, quiz content, or illustrations to train other models; or resell or publicly redistribute paid portrait packs.
2. Content sources and licensing
- Figure and relationship data come from Wikidata open data (CC0, available for commercial use and modification).
- Historical portraits come from Wikimedia Commons. Each image is governed by the licence on its Commons file page, and the app identifies the source.
- Historical events are written by hand. Character illustrations are AI-generated impressions and are labelled “AI illustration · not a historical portrait” in the interface.
- Distributing this content does not involve providing any user data to third parties.
3. Accuracy
- Historical sources contain gaps, contradictions, and competing accounts. We present them as recorded, without literary reconstruction, and do not guarantee that every entry reflects the latest scholarship.
- When birth or death dates are unknown, the timeline places a person using an estimated anchor for the relevant period and marks the value as an estimate. Please do not cite it as an exact date.
- The curve and density on the timeline reflect how much historical record survives, not population and not who mattered more.
- Illustrations are AI impressions, not the actual appearance of historical figures. For visual evidence, see the historical portrait linked from the detail page.
4. In-app purchases
- Paid portrait packs are non-consumable, one-time purchases. They are billed by the App Store (iOS, iPadOS, macOS) or Google Play; we never handle your payment details. The official Android APK uses Alipay or WeChat Pay.
- The app offers nine portrait packs: Jiangnan Classical · Front, 3/4 Turn, Low Angle, Rear, and Overhead; and Ink Freehand · Portrait, Landscape, Rear View, and High View. There is no subscription, no virtual currency, and no consumable currency.
- Once purchased, a pack remains available for use. On the App Store and Google Play versions, use Restore Purchases with the same store account after changing devices or reinstalling.
- Refunds, revocations, and disputes follow the relevant store's rules. Please apply through that store. For direct Android purchases, contact us through the Support page.
- Paid content does not change the free layer: the core app and the free portrait set remain available without buying any pack.
5. Your content and device data
- Notes and favourites you create stay on this device. We cannot see or recover them, and uninstalling the app deletes them. We recommend exporting a backup from Settings → Notes backup from time to time.
- Images you choose to share or save are handled by the system share sheet and photo library. They carry a product signature and necessary labels. Please do not remove notices such as “AI illustration · not a historical portrait” before sharing an image again.
6. Service changes and availability
- Historical data supports incremental online updates: the app updates automatically on Wi-Fi and asks first on mobile data. The content and scope of updates may change between versions.
- We may add, change, or discontinue features and content. If a change affects content you have purchased, we will keep it available or handle it under the relevant store's rules.
- The app is provided “as is”. We work to keep data and features available, but we do not promise compensation for indirect loss arising from use of the app.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. The parties will first try to resolve any dispute through good-faith negotiation. If that fails, the dispute will be submitted to the competent people's court where the operator is located.
8. Changes and contact
If these terms change, we will update this page and revise the effective date. Changes affecting your rights will be called out clearly. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
For questions, bug reports, or content corrections, contact us through the Support page.
